Beneficiary: Social Enterprise "Ikorta"

Social enterprise "Ikorta" was founded in 2011 by NGO "For Better Future". The organization is located in Tserovani IDP settlement near Gori district. The social purpose of the organization is to support professional development of women and youth and to promote IDPs by involving them in civil activities. As long as, the unemlpoyment is as severe problem in IDP settlement as its outside, the social enterprise aim is to provide demandable work abilities to women and youth.

Social enterprise "Ikorta" is enamel jewelry manufactory. Using traditional Georgian techniques, "Ikorta" offers enamel jewelry (rings, earnings, pendants, brooches, etc.) and textile (embroidery) to its clients. Income earned from the enterprise is used to support as its beneficiaries also sustainable development and mission accomplishment of the organization (professional development of women and youth, increasing their awareness about peaceful solving of conflicts, increasing efficiency of society and encouraging IDPs to participate in civil activities).

Problem Description

One of the local advertising company proposed the offer to social enterprise "Ikorta". Within the offer, advertising company suggested to produce promoting video for “Ikorta”, which will be used for raising the awareness about “Ikorta” and in general, to increase its popularity. Though, the final product was not corresponded to initial agreement. In spite of the efforts of "Ikorta", they couldn't receive high quality product from the advertising company. As a result, "Ikorta" decided to solve the problem by using the legal way. In order to determine the possible legal ways, "Ikorta" needed legal consultation.

Pro bono consultations was supported by ALFG (Association of Law Firms of Georgia). On July 7, 2017 the member of association - Kordzadze Law Office conducted pro bono consultation to social enterprise "Ikorta". Within the frames of pro bono service, legal consultation was held by the lawyer - Irakli Alkhazishvili. The recommendations was given to "Ikorta" about further legal steps and ways to protect its rights.
